ADOPT A SHEEP
All of our animals have amazing rescue stories. Most have been saved from previous owners or vets wanting to end their life because they looked un-saveable, or were destined for the meat market, whatever their story, they were not wanted and they arrived at Baah-Land Sanctuary where they can live their lives out without fear and with heaps of love.
BUT WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! Some of our animals need extra care and that costs extra money, is it would be wonderful if you could consider adopting one of them.
PLEASE CLICK ON EACH SHEEP IMAGE TO READ THEIR STORES.
TO ADOPT ONE, PLEASE GO TO OUR SHOP AND CLICK THE ONE YOU WOULD LIKE.
An adoption pack will be emailed to you within a few days of adoption.
Eliza
BORN WITHOUT EYES BUT LOVED AS MUCH!
Meet our lovely Eliza, one of our very special lambs here at the sanctuary. Sadly little Eliza was born with no eyes. She was due to be killed, so was brought to us instead so that her life could be saved! Despite her difficult start in life, she has the most lovely nature and it is clear to us that she really wants to live.
We took her to Leominster Specialist Eye Clinic to meet lovely vet John who sadly confirmed that no eyes or eyelids had developed at birth, just her tear ducts so nothing can be done to make her see. He said she was blessed to be with us although we can’t help but feel sad for not being able to see the beauty of the world around her, she has never been able to, so will use her other senses very well - she has already learned to follow and lie in the sun. Such a sweet little lamb!
She is getting used to the world around her using her other senses and we have changed our care routines for her to make life a little easier - we actually have several blind sheep here at the sanctuary, all who live with this disability in a way that is quite inspiring. Animals simply make the best of what they have and here we try to give them even better
We will always do our very best for each and every resident here, and some like little Eliza do need that extra care and attention. We’re only able to do this thanks to YOUR support and we can’t tell you how grateful we are.

Spotty
A LUCKY LITTLE LAMB
A tup got into our field and little Spotty was born unexpectedly as a result! Spotty is a very lucky boy, as unlike if born to a farm, he will be able to grow up into an adult here in his Forever Home at Baahland together with his mother. Their bond remains as strong as ever and we will never take that away from them, as they will always happily live together here.
She is a loving mother to this big lamb, just three weeks old; and although he looks nothing like a Hampshire Down like herself, she loves him just as much. There is no judgement or prejudice amongst sheep and we can learn a lot from our animal friends.
Can you help us to care for little Spotty as he grows and keep his Forever Home safe?

BLIND BUT JUST AS BEAUTIFUL
I am a 14-year-old Golden Oldie and totally blind, but I always know where my food and tasty Rich Tea biscuit treats are, and of course, my favourite carers! My age and sight don't hold me back and I am a respected member of the flock.
As such a special lady, I need lots of extra care and check-ups from the vet to keep my in tip-top health. Can you help to look after me?

Flora & Florence
SAVED FROM MARKET
We were deeply loved and brought up as pets, but when we got too big, the kind lady that fed us was told we had to go to market to be sold as meat.
She was sad at this of course, so advertised us as pets for sale.
We saw the advert and went and saved Flora & Florence and added them to our flock where they continue to live very happily.

NOT WANTED!
Myself and my 6 companions were no longer wanted by our original owner as we were too young to breed and too small for the meat market, so he didn’t want us and wanted to put the ram in with our Mum’s again.
We were sad to leave our Mum’s, but so grateful that we were brought to Baah-Land who welcomed us and put us on the Bank Field which we love to graze in.
We would love you to adopt us… we come as a bundle!

Teddy
I AM A MIRACLE TEDDY!
I am such a happy little Teddy lamb.
I was a miracle born from my Mum of 19 years old and not planned.
She got pneumonia and nearly died so I had to be bottle fed but she returned and just continued to feed me.
I am still with my Mum now and my sister but please adopt me so the money can help my Mum who needs more care due to her age and to help pay her vet bills.

Ship & Shipess
SHIPESS SAVED ME!
I was born and my Mum was really too old to look after me so when I went to feed, she had no milk, so although I did not want to leave my Mum I had to be bottle fed by hand by my new owners in their home.
I needed to be fed day and night but I lacked nutrition from my mum so I could not walk, only on my knees.
The vet came to see me and I had to have injections every day but still could not walk, my back was also bent. The vet said I would never walk and suggested they end my life.
But they never gave up on me. I had to stay in the barn and the other sheep were encouraged to visit me.
Then a few weeks later, a young girl lamb named Shipess was put in with me. She was so pretty and gentle and by morning I was on my feet and have been ever since, and as you can see in the photo, she is always by my side.
Shipess also nearly died. I was so sad when she became blind and did not eat. We were back in the barn but she was hand fed and had medicine every day and she is well again now although the vet said there was no hope and to end her life.
So please adopt us together as we are an inseparable pair.

HALF BLIND & NO MUM AT 3 WEEKS!
I had a very sad start to my life. I lost my mum when I was just three weeks old. She was really caring for me then I woke up one day but she never did. I curled up beside her waiting for her to wake but she could not wake.
I was gently taken from her but I was scared and lonely. I was cuddled and fed but my eye developed a ulcer so I was rushed to a specialist eye clinic but my eye had ruptured so could not be saved.
The eye clinic said no one had spent the money to save a sheep’s eye so I was the first they had seen. They did all they could to save my eye but couldn’t unfortunately but my new owners didn’t just give up on me.
I returned home was paired with another Hampshire like me and I learnt I could cope with one eye with my companion by my side. I still need to feel safe and have regular checks on my eye so need more love and medical help than most so I would love it if you could please adopt me.

NOT WANTED BECAUSE I WAS A BOY!
I simply was not wanted as I was born a boy.
I was taken from my Mum and sold to be a pet but was saved and now live happily with my friends at Baah-Land.
My job is look-out as my ears are bigger than my companions and I am easily spotted in the field.
Please adopt me and make me feel wanted.

Angel (mother of Angel Boy)
I NEARLY DIED, SAVAGED BY A DOG!
I was used to breed to make pedigree lambs and I gave birth to Blackie, but as he was a boy, they advertised him to be taken from me at a few days old.
My owners now saw the advert for my Blackie and came and took him so he did not go for meat when he got older but he would not feed without me, so they brought him back to me as he was close to death.
He fed straight away from me so they brought me away too and we are still together now living happily at Baah-Land.
Then an awful thing happened… I was terrified when a dog got in the field and attacked me and Blackie. I ran in front of Blackie to save him but the dog bit me many times and it ripped my chest open.
Without hesitation, my lovely owners called a vet, who stitched and cleaned my wound but the bill was so large but I am so lucky as I could have died and the vet wanted to end my life.
The dog owner was never found and thank heaven my lovely new owners never gave up on me.
If you could adopt me that would be so kind.

Tommy
I WENT BLIND… LOVE SAVED ME!
I was terrified! I suddenly became blind, lost my appetite, and stayed alone from the flock, so frightened.
But I was saved and taken to a warm barn and felt tender loving care and human bond for the first time.
A nice lady vet came said I had vitamin 12 deficiency as I hold my head up high to try and see.
I was given medicine for two weeks and given lots of love and kindness, hand-fed grass, and bit by bit, fruit, veg, sheep food and minerals.
I felt the love, and if they wanted me to live I did too, and fought to survive!
A few days later I could see and soon I was back making new friends and part of a new happy family; but what would have happened if they never saved me?
Please adopt me, it would make me so happy!

SAVED TWICE!
The farmer died at the farm where we used to live but he didn't leave a will so some people came and starting taking everyone away! There were 14 of us tiddlers all our mommies had been slaughtered, then all my friends were taken away!
I was too small for market even though they tried to fatten me up by feeding me lots of corn thankfully I never got big enough to sell for meat.
Then a miracle happened, two lovely people arrived on the farm and put me in a nice warm trailer, the lady one knew I would be scared so she stayed with me and cuddled me so I felt safe.
I settled in at Baah-Land really quickly but then I started to feel a bit poorly so I was moved inside and taken care of day and night.
Then on Christmas Eve I took a turn for the worse, everyone was really worried, I became unresponsive and thought it was the end.
Turns out the people from before that had been trying to fatten me up by only feeding me corn had caused me to have gall stones, I couldn't go to the toilet and was very very poorly.
The amazing vet did a special operation and I have been recovering well, I managed to have a walk around recently and played with my friend Ruby.

Rejected by Mommy
Ruby's mommy was very young and didn't know what to do when Ruby was born, we did everything we could to try to get them to bond, we kept them in the barn together just the two of them hoping that mommy would figure out she needed to care for Ruby but sadly mommy just wouldn't accept Ruby.
We had to bottle feed Ruby and give her lots of love and cuddles, she spent the first stage of her life in Martin's house, her Baahhhh even sounded like she was saying Da Da so it seems she understood Martin to be daddy....VERY CUTE!
Ruby has been intergrated back with the Baah-Land family now and has become firm friends with Batfui, he has taught her how to be a sheep and its adorable to see her copying everything he does.
If we would not have been there for Ruby she would have died as she wouldn't have got the milk from her mommy as she didn't latch, we love her so much and she has made Batfui really happy, thick as thieves!
